TICA REGISTERED CATTERY

Specializing in British Shorthairs with European Lines

Welcome! So happy you stopped by :) We are a TICA registered British Shorthair Cattery Located just 30 minutes north of Denver , Colorado.

Although we are new to breeding Brits as of late 2023/early 2024 we are not new to  British Shorthairs!  Megan is a Veterinarian so she put a lot of thought into things before starting her dream cattery.  Please take a peek and feel free to contact us about any questions you may have. But first,  please read our "about us" section below and kitty/pricing policy/info pages.

Our kittens are raised in a loving home. Our adult kitties are part of our family and socialized with children and dogs daily. We  really do take pride in only providing the very best for them.

All adult cats are tested  for FELV/FIV/PKD, HCM via echocardiogram with a boarded  veterinary cardiologist and  unique to us we also perform a blood test called a proBNP. This is NOT the genetic marker test  since that is NOT available for brits yet but instead  this is a marker of heart stress and can be a marker for heart disease as well. This is a test we use as veterinarians for patients to determine if there is any stress or strain on the heart. Please see link listed below for more information.

We also perform full genetic screening panels on all of our adult kitties before considering them for our breeding program. This is very important to us for many  ethical and personal reasons. Being an emergency room and ICU veterinarian, Megan cares deeply for preserving only the best of the breed including both genetics, health, and temperament. Unfortunately, she has seen the heartache diseases like PKD and HCM cause for both people and their fur babies and does everything possible to decrease the chance of these health conditions.

We also feed raw! Our kitties eat Blue Ridge Beef! Admittedly,  Vet school doesn't teach much about nutrition and encourages diets like RC/Hills/Purina. Although there is a time and place for certain diets , she believes felines should eat a more natural and wholesome  "prey" diet like those of their wild counterparts.  She has collaborated with veterinary feline experts who agree with feeding the prey model diet and her many breeding mentors to learn more about kitty nutrition as this is such an important part of a cats health.  We understand that this doesn't fit into everyone's lifestyle.   We do prefer that you feed a wholesome diet too. Please feel free to reach out and chat about any nutritional questions.  We also feed orijen kitten food to help those families who cannot feed raw.

ABOUT US

Megan's love and passion for animals started before she could talk. By 5 years old, she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian and own a farm.  Although she is still working on the dream of having her farm come true, she has a large loving home full of spoiled children (or some may call them pets).

Megan's always been a bit of a book nerd. She first obtained her bachelors degree in nutritional biochemistry, went on to get  a post baccalaureate in  biomedical sciences, and then graduated veterinary medical school.

After graduating veterinary medical school, she completed a rotating internship. During her rotating internship she fell in love with caring for the babies in the ICU and being able to change pets and their families lives in such extreme and intense situations.  She has worked the entirety of her career in high volume specialty centers collaborating and learning from the best criticalists, cardiologists, internists, surgeons, neurologists, etc.  She is very thankful for her journey in veterinary medicine and strives to provide top notch care to her patients and her fur babies both at home and at work.

So back to her dream of having a farm and a house full of pets :) Megan has had a love for British Shorthairs for over a decade.  But as many others have probably experienced, it can be challenging to find them in America. Or maybe you just learned about the breed and are curious to learn more about them?  Well, let me tell you, when she learned more about this special breed about 10 years ago, she immediately fell in love and couldn't wait to have her own. However, life was busy and her education brought her all over the world. But, she knew once she was rooted in one place she would make the dream happen.

But see, one who loves Brits easily understands the obsession that comes with them and before you know it you have multiple and then you  want to share this wonderful breed with everyone. SO through LOTS OF PERSISTENCE AND COUNTLESS hours/days/years of research and networking she decided to take the leap in the breeding/showing/community in late 2023.

She has and continues to work with AMAZING MENTORS from some WONDERFUL REGISTERED CATTERIES AROUND THE WORLD.

Okay, now lets not forget about the husband :

Mike, the supporting husband, wasn't so sure about cats in the beginning.  However,  between  his daughter's and Megan's persistence he eventually said yes   ... and as one  says " the rest is history." Mike's fully supported Megan in her love for brits and has never said no when she  obsessively looks for more to call her own.   You will catch Mike cuddling and playing with the kitties even if on occasion he has to take an allergy pill. The love just runs that deep! Mike has truly fallen deep in love with this breed as well and now is just as devoted as Megan in providing only but the best spoiled house for these babies. He is constantly making Megan's dreams come true for neat kitty trees/catios/cat walls and has turned their entire finished basement into a neat cat studio.

Megan wants to give a huge thank you and shout out to the following people (and their associated catteries) who have believed in her and held her hand through this dream of hers. Please check them out too!
